Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk rock and alternative rock but also has influence from hip hop and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the first artists to create her own label 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian descent, and her mother comes from Montreal.
