One of her personal highlights was being hand-picked to join Snoop in the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs in spite of the chaos over the last few years. A producer magnet Niykee has a constant eye on beats being sent to her. She finds that most beats spark fresh music ideas. I'll know if a beat's great after five seconds and then I'll be able to get a tune in my mind and begin writing right away she tells. My lyrics come to me while I'm sitting on my deck, playing guitar. It usually takes under 30 minutes. Niykee continues to develop her abilities as a poet and lyricist. She notes how her experiences of suffering through the years is a constant source of unusual inspiration. Even when I'm not writing literally about things that have occurred to me, the hurt of growing up and loss of my sister in being integrated into my music she says. The grief of losing my sister as well as my childhood shapes the songs that I compose. It is important for me to have a deep meaning to everything I perform.
