
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jameson; September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[5] is a Mexican and American actor and film producer. Her career started in Mexico which she played in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) that brought her an Ariel Award nomination. She soon established herself in Hollywood with roles in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal of Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) the film that she also produced was what made Hayek the first Mexican actress to be awarded the Academy Award [6]. This also earned her the Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek was a part of the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico films in the following years and shifted her focus to producing.
